“You don’t own a heart rate monitor?! And you write a fitness blog????” These were the words of my spin class instructor while we ascended a rather steep hill on our stationary bikes. In my defense, I never found the need for one. I’ve been staying fit for years but all on my own and measuring my perceived exertion in my head while keeping pace with the instructor on the fitness dvd’s, classes or whatever I am doing at the time. I had even tried buying a heart rate monitor, but there were so many  to choose from and with little guidance I gave up. However, after some research, I have decided to attempt purchasing a heart rate monitor :)

Here is one option I am currently looking at, the Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Heart Rate Monitor. (click the link to view more information)

Although it is not absolutely necessary to own a heart rate monitor to get healthy and stay that way; it is helpful if you are interested in tracking and quantifying your progress with any fitness activity. For me, this will help me track my running, making sure I don’t over-train or under-train with its gps tracking feature. This particular HRM (heart rate monitor) comes highly recommended and at a reasonable price when compared with other units in its capability range and ease of use.

If you use a heart rate monitor with gps that you absolutely love, I’d like to hear from you. Thanks again for reading & subscribing!
