While putting my hair in braids in prep for a long run, I thought about the various hairstyles I’ve worn for exercise. My hair is not chemically treated (natural) and super thick so I have to be creative when it comes to styling and preserving a style through a major sweaty workout session. The basic idea is something easy that won’t get dripping wet or in the way. Here is a sample of quick hair do that works for me when I go running…

Flat twists

These flat twists are quick to do, and when I unravel the braids my hair is barely even damp and I can get a cute hair do like this for a night out dancing, no blow dryer required!

Post workout hair… no lie!

I’d like to see what you do with your hair to preserve a style or keep your hair out of the way while you exercise. You can comment below or send a picture to fitgirl@naijafit.com and I will feature your hairdo on this site (with your permission of course).

On a side note, this past week has not been very successful in regards to my workout schedule. I ran Sunday morning (7.8 miles, yay me!) and then did some strength training on Monday. However, for the rest of the week, I was just too busy or lazy ;) . Never fear! I will be joining my local BGR (Black Girls Run!) running group this weekend to get back in gear. I’ve been enjoying this running group and if you have one in your area I highly recommend getting involved with them. You can join them on Facebook or their website: www.blackgirlsrun.com

Cheers!
